FIVE DAYS FORECAST FOR ABEMAMA:

Issued

Wednesday 1st April 2026

Valid until

02/04/2026

Situation

An active trough of low pressure, previously located to the east, is now drifting slowly westward toward the Kiribati group and is affecting most parts of the region. Meanwhile, active convective clouds associated with another low-pressure system to the south remain influencing the southern islands, including Banaba.

Advisory Warning

Rough seas advisory #03: Due to the persistence of the low-pressure system east of the northern islands in the Kiribati group, it will generate sustained moderate westerly to northerly winds and gusty at times to the Kiribati islands. These conditions are expected to produce rough seas and may lead to coastal inundation and related disturbances in low-lying areas, particularly along coastlines exposed to the west through north. The public is advised to take precautions to minimize possible impacts

Gusty wind Advisory #09:  A gusty wind advisory remains in force over the Kiribati group and Banaba. The public is advised to take precautions to minimize threats.
